ALL YOU CAN ART is the title of the big spectacular show in the KUNSTHAL Rotterdam IBB has on now. It is an overview of the first 10 years of the Curaçao based institute for contemporary culture. It features work of inspirational
leaders David Bade and Tirzo Martha alongside work of students and contemporary Curaçao artists. Also the work of resident artist and guest teachers is shown. As well the KUNSTHAL will function as a satellite of IBB. 35 ambitious young future artists
have enrolled for an intensive course with David & Tirzo and crew. This 6 week Summer school will take part during and in the middle of the exhibition.
We are honoured to say work we made with the students during our residency
in winter 2015,the One Minute Sculpture Museum and the Cultural Procession of December 2015 is part of the show.
And that is not our only contribution. We are invited to co-create the entry for the 2016 Rotterdam Summer Carnival. This is
a joined initiative of the art institutes TENT and the KUNSTHAL. The Rotterdam Summer Carnival has been an initiative of the Caribbean community in the Netherlands and has grown in her 30 years of existence into one of the main event on the Rotterdam cultural
calendar. Until last year 'official' cultural institute had no part in this celebration. It suddenly dawned that it could be a perfect opportunity to mix these cultural worlds and to make a mutual acquaintance..
Last year a first float
was designed by fashion designer Marga Weimans. She created a beautiful float and dancers with headpieces. Its design connected to her Suriname roots. But unfortunately strong winds called for the authorities to cancel the parade in 2015 for safety reasons.
The float was therefore only performed inside the showroom of TENT
So if the weather holds 2016 will be the first time art institutes will participate. Our co creators are artist Mette Sterre and the summer school students of IBB.
